After departing Cosford along with everyone else in the 305th, I was posted to RAF Cranwell. Whilst at Cranwell I was to be posted to an airstrip in the Radfan Mountains in 1967 until my boss pointed out to Innsworth that I was too young to go into an active service area. That got cancelled and a few months later I got the calling to go for another sun and sand posting to Muharraq, Bahrain. Met up there with Bill Stewart, Bob Waycott, Ian Sinden, Brian Webster, Dave Madley, Terry Charman (whatever happened to him?). We all walked the runway and trogged in the oggin for 13 months when we had nothing better to do. On return I went RAF Bawdsey a sleepy hollow and was then sent onto Stanbridge as they obviously considered that Bawdsey was to quiet for me.

Shortly after arrival at Stanbridge I was told I was off to Singapore for 6 months and that was as I was about to get married to Yvonne (who I had met whilst we were at Cosford for those who remember) that was 1970.
Anyway I got out of the detachment only to have my best man Bob Waycott
sent on the detachment - probably as my replacement!.

We then went off to SHAPE, Belgium and again met up with Brian Webster, Bob Waycott and Bill Stewart came down for a visit from Tongern. Our eldest daughter Denise was born at Shape. 38GPTCW was next on the agenda and holidays around the world for me interspersed with spells in the Outer Hebrides, Scottish Highlands, Sennybridge, Salisbury Plain and other exotic locations with a cam net and gun (sorry rifle!). I was on the ground for refuelling stop en route to Australia when the Turks invaded Cyprus and we left in a bit of a hurry from Akrotiri.I was also fortunate to be included in the launch team for a satellite and had a rough two trips out the California with a spot of sightseeing thrown in - Yvonne threw away all the postcards! From TCW they decided that I had not spent enough time away from the family so off to Cyprus for an unaccompanied at Akrotiri.

I managed to leave Yvonne with a present on departure and returned just in time for the birth of our second daughter Lisa and was posted to Rudloe Manor. From Rudloe we moved onto Rheindahlen and again had a few months separation shortly after they arrived in Germany whilst I went camping holidays again on the East German Border leaving the family at Rheindahlen. From Rheindahlen again Records achieved the impossible and gave me a posting which included every one of my negative choices - Boddington. Boddington was only a short interlude and we were on our way north of the border to Pitreavie Castle.

After a while of sampling the haggis and 'neeps' we took off for Episkopi and a sunshine tour. On return, we went to Wattisham in Suffolk. Then I was posted to Northwood and briefly met up with Chris Webb and Ginge Lampkin. By now we were obviously showing signs of missing the sun and another tour to Episkopi came up. Half way through this tour, Bill Stewart came out to Episkopi also. In 1991 we decided to call it a day and I handed in my 18 months notice and handed over my F1250 for the last time on 19th January 1993.

After working for my current employer for a while in Somerset due to closures we had to either take redundancy or move elsewhere we took the option of continued employment and moved down to Devon to live. I commute to work in Cornwall at present. Both of our daughters and their families live about an hour away in Somerset.
